A RenderWeekly challenge, used to explore additive manufacturing with Grasshopper in Rhino and organic modeling in Blender.
- Design response
A spherical driver pod carried on a lattice stand, a form that only additive manufacturing could produce in one piece.
Design language
Machined precision meets grown structure: a perfect sphere carried by something that looks like it was grown rather than built.
- Form
A spherical driver pod held in a lattice stand, whose open cells could only come from additive manufacturing.
- Contrast
Smooth, exact geometry at the head against an organic, branching body below. The tension between the two is the design.
- Reference
Its namesake satellite: a polished sphere with a trailing antenna, echoed in the cable spike at the back of the pod.
- Color
A white driver face in a dark gloss shell, presented on saturated orange and deep blue grounds like a space-age poster.
