This product was designed around how visceral products from the likes of Claustrum feel to me: the denotations and connotations of the material presented, from the feeling of handling its slick finish to the sounds it makes when colliding with itself.
Overview
- Inspiration
The sensory feel of objects from the likes of Claustrum: a slick finish, and the sound the material makes.
- Design response
A folded metal sheet with a slotted face that holds a pillar candle, documented from technical drawing to finished renders.
Design language
A study of how a material feels: the slick finish in the hand and the sound it makes against itself, after objects from the likes of Claustrum.
- Form
A folded sheet that becomes a stand, with a slotted face that throws patterned light.
- Material
Mirror-polished gold metal on terrazzo: reflection against speckle.
- Detail
Documented first as a technical drawing (CH001), so the fold lines and slots read as precisely as the renders.
